Kid-friendly recipes: How to make blackberry freezecake pops

Are your kids crying out for something sweet, but there’s no ice cream van in sight?

Don’t panic – we’ve got you covered.

This week’s kid-friendly recipe is the blackberry freezecake pop – so named because the taste reminds me of cheesecake.

These lollies are so easy to make, look great, and taste oh so yummy.

You can make them with any berry, but I just love the colour of the blackberries.

The measurements depend on how many you need to make, but below is a rough guide.

No need to nip to the shops the next time you or the kids have an ice cream craving (Picture: Neha Gandesha)


  • Large packet of blackberries (or any berry)
  • 150g Greek yoghurt
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Honey (not for babies under one year old)
  • 3 digestive biscuits (crushed)


  1. Put berries and sugar into a pan with 1tbsp water. Heat gently then turn up heat and bring to the boil ,stirring and mashing so the berries release their juice (add more water if you need it). Simmer for a few minutes then leave to cool completely.
  2. In a bowl, stir together yogurt and honey.
  3. Fill ice lolly moulds with a spoonful of cooled berries, followed by a layer of yogurt mixture and then another of cooled berries. Top with crushed digestive biscuits and a tbsp of water to set the biscuit (press down to pack it).
  4. Push lolly sticks in and freeze until solid – around four hours.
